Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje atskleidžiamos įvairiarūšės Vakarų viduramžių meno sąsajos su Rytų kultūromis. Studija skirta apsvarstyti tradicinės sąmonės ir religijos nulemtą viduramžių kūrybos ir kūrėjo sampratą. Bandant suvokti viduramžių meno ištakas, apvedami istoriniai ir geografiniai kontūrai, atkreipiamas dėmesys į krikščioniškųjų Rytų palikimo pėdsakus Vakarų meno pasaulyje. Straipsnyje gvildenamos Vakarų viduramžių meno universalumo premisos: išryškinamos tiesioginės greta klestėjusių Rytų kultūrų įtakos ir anaforiškas senųjų civilizacijų meninio palikimo atgimimas. Aptariamas viduramžių studijų aktualumas ir naujos medievistinių tyrinėjimų perspektyvos. ENThe changes in contemporary art field, revealing relativity of art conception stimulate to look more attentively at universal and anonymous artistic tradition characteristic in Middle Ages - period, which formed the basis of values and symbolic arsenal of Christian civilization. Then new images and virtual pictures squeeze in our culture art historians starting analyze polysemantic conception of imago and investigate not only its esthetical foundation but also ideological functions, power, relations with spectator. So this article discusses historical limits of Middle Ages in the East and the West, studies universal artistic language, fundamental traits of traditional art and specific medieval conception of author. Though all periods of the Western middle ages is interesting and full of many-sided relations with the Eastern cultures, which enriched the West with universal features, the paper focuses on artistic expression of early and mature medieval period looking for similarities and influences of non western cultures. On the one hand, comparative methodology bases the study and reveals the facts that were ignored in the classical art history: medieval art tradition is not unbroken continuation of Hellenistic one. It is no doubt that the source of Christian art leads to the East. On the other hand, anthropological point of view - fortifying its position today - force to look for common grounds of creation, for fundamental features of artistic language, leaving alone concrete ways of influences. That's way in the article dominates idea that traditional art features link principles of creation in the East and the West during the Middle Ages: sacral, universal, canonical, impersonal artistic language. These traits predetermine vitality of medieval art forms. [From the publication]
