Summary / Abstract:

ENThe fact of division of the Russian Metropolie into Lithuanian and Moscow revived in the Lithuanian society the tendencies leading to the church union. The followers of this union, clergymen and laymen, were continuying the conclusion of the Florentine union and they wanted to see the Romish Pope as their ally and protector. The Pope was supposed (apart from other things) to help them to resolve the relationship with Polish and Lithuanian Catholic bishops.
