Summary / Abstract:

ENDoes a carnival full of a play and tricks open the ‘unhidenness’ of the Being? And what it is the unhidenness? Is it mythic sources, socio-political and cultural relationships, or political publicity and communication? The questions are deeply connected with Continental philosophy’s critic of curtains, instrumentality and inauthenticity. The critic was based on the analysis of alienation of workers, doctrines of anti-Semitism and analysis of ideologies and Metaphysics. Critical philosophers unveiled manipulation by power, however pay much less attention to the cultures of laughter and play as the forms or elements of authentic life. The aim of the article is to oppose M. Heidegger’s concept of machination (Machenschaft) and the Carnival culture, to oppose the concerns in the roots and the creative laughter and tricking in negotiation, communication... For a long time the laughter and peoples carnivals, bazaar’s negotiations, boudoir’s and diplomacy’s games were considered as something superficies, non-serious, instrumental, lying and were stereotypically applied to the women and Jewish cultures. M. Heidegger, similarly to the representatives of Frankfurt critical school Max Horkheimer, Walter Benjamin, Herbert Marcuse, Theodor Adorno, researched and criticized the false consciousness and the ambiguity of the one but were sceptical about tricking as something important. Heidegger characterized unauthenticity as a superficies character, unboundedness to the living space and as the result he negated Jewish cultural involvement into laughter and tricking behaviour that he related with idea of machination (Machenschaft). He applied tendency of being machination to the Jewish world (Weltjudentum) which he considered more from metaphysical than racial point of view. However not only him but many of critics of alienation and reification don’t analyse the playfulness, carnival and tricking as an essential being and cultural mediation at the same time. The first part of the paper develops some ides of M. Bakhtin, H.G. Gadamer and J. Huizinga on the independent and essential being of carnival and play. The article considers traditional carnival holidays and their narratives like Jewish Purim, picaresque novels, the phenomenon of trickster as a cultural hero in many myths, the novels of N. Gogol and Ilf and Petrov in order to make contrast to the dramatic seriousness and care of M. Heidegger and his inattentivencss to the Jewish culture. The second part of the article is devoted to the M. Heidegger’s ideas of Myth and critics of Weltjudentum from the view pint of machinations. M. Heidegger followed F. Schelling’s philosophy of myth, F. Nietzsche’s idea of Wille zur Macht and his own poetic visions of the source (Ursprung) as the proof of the openness of the Being. The myth tells itself, it is tautegoric but not allegoric (F. Schelling: “die Mythologie ist nicht allegorisch, sondern tautegorisch zu verstehen”). The myth is full of the natural power (ęvmę) and it is the source (Urpsprung) and the will to power at the same time. The real being is only of Übermensch which is open for the Dasein (Being there). The myth and the sources should be experienced as the element of Heimat (being in your mythic land in the present time). Such considerations he opposed to the vision of Weltjudentum which was characterized by involvement to the various machinations and therefore they are tricksters. Such interpretation of Jewishness fully coincides with German Nazism and was developed in his Schwarzen Hefie. The third part of the article contrast Heidegger’s idea of openness (Offenen) and the publicity of H. Arendt. H. Arendt was very involved into Heideggerian philosophy, however she in her English (original) edition of the “Human condition” and the translation into German (as “Vita activa”) by her own consciously changed the openness of the being into public and publicity {das Publikum) as an essential being. Publicity could be characterised as the sphere of cooperative activity of citizens differently form economic and private interests or differently from panopticum. The publicity cares about higher society values: ethic, aesthetic, political. The article includes the carnival, culture of laughter and tricking into the publicity and so fully opposes the Heidegger’s interpretation of machinations and the openness of the Being. The conclusion of the article maintains that the carnival and tricking (trickster) are and could be the element of the political process and the main examples are The Situationist International and their idea of dėtournement (hijacking) as the method of laughter from capitalist exploitation and as the principle of breaking of hegemonic power and dictatorship.
