Stanislovo von Goeso veikla Joniškio ir jo apylinkių kooperatiniame judėjime

LTStraipsnyje trumpai pristatoma kooperacijos idėja, kooperacijos bendrovių atsiradimas Europoje ir Lietuvoje, jų veikimo sąlygos, lietuvių tautinio judėjimo ideologų kooperacijai teikta reikšmė. Plačiau nagrinėjama Joniškio vartotojų bendrovės, įkurtos 1904 m. ir kuriai iki 1911 m. vadovavo Stanislovas Goesas, veikla, išgyventi sunkumai. Pristatoma Žeimelio skolinamosios-taupomosios draugijos (pradėjusios darbą 1883 m.) veikla, jos XX a. pradžioje išgyventa krizė, po kurios trumpam jai vadovauti išrinktas Goesas.

ENThe article, based on historiography, press information and scarce archival material, describes the activities of two cooperative companies in which Stanislaw von Goes took part, Joniškis Consumer Society and Žeimelis Savings and Loan Society. Joniškis Consumer Society was founded in 1904. Von Goes had been involved in its work since its inception and until 1911 as chairman of the board. During the first decade, the Society worked successfully. It traded basic necessities, agricultural implements and machinery. In 1911, the Society’s activities were aggravated by theft and fire, which burned down the company’s store. But the company was able to build a new store building and warehouse within a year. Between 1913 and 1914, the company’s profits fell dramatically and it experienced a crisis. Some of the company members left the Company following the board abuses, but the company was able to restructure. It was still in existence during World War I. Žeimelis Savings and Loan Society began its work in 1883. Von Goes was chairman of the board from 1909 to 1911. Till the end of the 19th century, the Society was successful and its membership was growing. However, due to the mismanagement of the Society and abuses of the Board, it suffered losses for several years. The investigation revealed the Society’s maladministration, its activities were reorganized, so it was successful until the First World War.It was just after the crisis that he was elected chairman of the board of the Society, but only until early 1911. Both societies started their work during the most active periods of these types of cooperative organizations. In spite of the difficulties they had experienced, both societies successfully overcome the crises and continued their activities. This was evidenced by good organization of both societies, undoubtedly the involvement of local intelligentsia, including Stanislaw von Goes, in their activities. The quite successful activities of both societies contributed to the popularization of the idea of cooperation in Joniškis region, laid a solid foundation for the development of the cooperative movement already in Independent Lithuania, and contributed to the development of the common peasant culture. Cooperative organizations in Joniškis region helped to strengthen the economic situation of Lithuanian peasants, to restructure and modernize the farms.
