Summary / Abstract:

ENIn many regions of the world the major efforts are made to stimulate bioeconomy development. The aim is that the bioeconomy would be significant part of the national economy and helps solve the region's environmental, economic and social problems. The successful solution of these problems is possible in countries with the bioeconomy characterized by the sustainable competitive advantage. The need of the sustainable competitive advantage must be emphasized because of the goal of sustainable advantage at the same time is the goal of high efficiency. Realisation of these goals is essential to not only for the competition with producers in other countries but also for the preservation of resources. In this work the components of competitive advantage in the bioeconomy are delivered on the basis of Porter's diamond model describing them in the context of bioeconomy important conditions. It is also a strong focus on renewable natural resources and the role of government, which was not enough to highlight in the theory of competitive advantage developed by M.E. Porter. It is also emphasized that some of the competitive advantage maintenance solutions that are effective for the usual industrial activities cannot always be adapted to the development of the competitive advantage in bioeconomy. The first part introduces definitions of bioeconomy and a brief overview of the development of the bioeconomy in Europe. The second part is devoted to the concept of competitive advantage in the bioeconomy and the analysis of sustainability dimension. The third is focused on the identification of preconditions for sustainable competitive advantage in the bioeconomy. [From the publication]
