Summary / Abstract:

ENPost-secular society is understood as taking care of religious communities and their symbiosis in a secularized environment. The general public knows very little about Catholic Social Teaching in secularized Lithuania. Catholic Social Teaching and Christian Ethics are not taught at Lithuanian universities, except for the Faculty of Theology at Vytautas Magnus University. The legacy of the Soviet cultural system is a devastated human being, who has lost religious identity and has no clear orientation of values. Secularization and the interests of the state compel Lithuanian higher education institutions to adopt a pragmatic approach, over-emphasizing the natural sciences and engineering. The humanities are beyond the margins. This results in misinterpretations of society's common goods, with further danger for personal freedom.
