Summary / Abstract:

ENBetween 1939-1940 the USSR forced Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia to sign the agreement to waiver from Baltic Entente. Moreover Finland was prohibited to connect with other Scandinavian nations (1940 i 1944). &e USSR rejected the law for “small Nations” to integrations with each other, which was supported by Great Britain. &at is why Soviets were against the Polish-Czechoslovakian Union and Yugoslavian-Greek Union as well (1942). &e USSR thought, that as a socialist state it had solved nationalistic, economic and social problems in the spirit of brotherhood and co-operation between dependent nations. &at is why the USSR did not agree on their international integration. &e USSR de$ned itself as the federation of the socialist republics which made up formally independent and possessing equal rights states. However, the attributes of state within the Soviet federation were facade, and republican institutions strictly controlled. Soviet federalism served to the annexation of neighbouring nations as in reality next republics were “liberated” by the Red Army.
