ENWhatever Germany’s interest in negotiations, the current situation in the Baltic Sea region is an offer it can hardly refuse: there is a need for more security, and Germany is the country best positioned to provide it. What is more, its Baltic Sea neighbours are willing, indeed eager, to have Germany play a larger role in their region.
