ENThe article explores the expansion of the Lithuanian Reform Movement (Sąjūdis) which contributed to the downfall of the Soviet regime in Lithuania. In particular, it investigates who became the pioneers of the movement in different regions of Lithuania. Using the theory of Pierre Bourdieu and a vast collection of oral history data, we analyze the combinations of internal and external preconditions that led people to join the ranks of revolutionaries and present the typology of the pioneers of the movement.
