ENThe 100th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuanian statehood opened several “mediums” streaming out some significant historical rifts. Literature creativity echoes the consequences of intensification of the persistent discourse about statehood in culture and politics, expanding the dimension of Lithuanian identity, which was stigmatised, suspended due to the trauma from the loss of statehood. This newly discovered discourse of historical depth can be presented as 1) the restoration of heroic cultural history of connections of the old Lithuania – the Republic of Two Nations in Union with Poland, actualisation of the concept of prominent citizenship; 2) expansion of contemporary existential instincts with the post-Soviet sarcasm in anticipation of quasi-naive Lithuanian identity during interwar Lithuania; 3) recognition of legality of alternative Lithuania in “the war after war“ with a partisan army, general-president, function of the diplomacy in the exile, transforming the concept of history; 4) the memory of deportations opens the visual and cinematographic field of images about the fate of the nation after losing the statehood; 5) the current Lithuanian psychology with never-ending problematic discourse about the past, liberalism and the importance of having Mannerheim line in the tradition of Statehood identity.
