ENThe aim of this paper is to take closer look at the biography of Jurgis Savickis (1890-1952), Lithuanian prose writer and diplomat from the first half of the 20th century. The background for the analysis is Savickis' diary "The Earth Is Burning" (1956) - notes written in the years of the Second World War, which their author spent working hard on his small farm in Southern France. "The Earth is Burning" is a penetrating observation of what is going around. It reveals the Writer's inclination to a fragmentary flow of thoughts, which is typical for his prose as well.
