ENThis publication introduces the book of capitular decisions adopted by the chapters of the Polish province of Friars Minor Conventual in 1580–1598. The attempt to reinvigorate the communal life in the spirit of the Council of Trent is to be viewed as the main driving force behind these decisions. The importance of Italian friars in this effort must be emphasized. The manuscript book in question was used cursorilly by Fr. Kamil Kantak OFM and was known to him under the signature FL 1579 (=„Acta prov. Poloniae 1579–1602“). However, the data pertaining to the history of the Franciscan friars in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania have attracted virtually no attention from Polish and Lithuanian scholars so far. The excerpts published here cast a light on the personal makeup of Friars Minor Conventual active in Lithuania in the late sixteenth century. Currently this book is kept at the Franciscan institute in Łódź-Łagiewniki (Signature: IF 03420, Inv. nr. 09322. Its full title reads: „Registrum eorum, quae praecipua fuerunt inter acta Reverendi patris fratris Bonaventurae Maresii Bellunensis doctoris theologi Ordinis Minorum Conventualium et in provincia Polonie etc. eiusdem Ordinis generalis commissarii, visitatoris apostolici in anno 1579 et 1580“ – p. 1).
