ENThe present article is an analysis of the important issue of language politics scenarios. The issue is discussed with regard to the historical experience of Lithuania. The occupation o f the country by tsarist Russia, as well as the Bismarck and Stalin periods manifest that language politics is a constituent part of geopolitics. Through destroying the native language, some nations impose their own will on other nations and thus constrain the occupied peoples’ love for their native land and self-respect. Presently, in the course of globalisation, several language politics scenarios exist. The author of the article discusses and compares them in the work. The main thesis of the article says that one needs to be precautious, critical and self-critical in order to preserve the essence, beauty and priceless value of the native language.
