ENThis paper reports on a qualitative research undertaken with Lithuanian secondary school and gymnasium music teachers. The target of the research is to reveal what teacher’s competences are necessary in the process of fostering pupils’ musical creativity through MCT. The research data were collected through in depth interview with 10 music teachers. Research findings show that one of the essential components of competences for fostering pupils’ musical creativity are subject (music) and didactic competences of music teachers. The creative music teacher is able to organize the developmental process in such a way that each pupil would acquire knowledge and skills necessary for musical creativity, would be capable of creating an original composition, and experiencing joy of discovery and creation.
