ENThe purposes of this article are the following: to expand the scope of political ideas about the inter-war period by seeking to determine whether the turning point away from democracy was unique to Lithuania or was a general ideological concept of "authoritarianism" and its ideological forces by relying on the political writings of Antanas Smetona; to consider whether the ideological legacy of Antanas Smetona is today a relic or something worth updating and revising. In general the present article is a reconsideration of Antanas Smetona authoritarian rule and its implications. [From the publication]
