Summary / Abstract:

ENThere are a number of problems in the teachers' education at Lithuanian universities and other high schools. One of the most actual problem is the role of ethnic culture subjects in the primary and secondary school. During the period of last 10 years a great attention was given to the conception of so called "national school". The continuity of all the forms of local ethnic culture traditions was the main idea there. In other hand the mass culture influence came from the west countries, overlapping and destroying the local Lithuanian ethnic culture. Our teachers have the very new situation propagating and developing the attention for national folk traditions, folklore, folk art among the schoolchildren in Lithuania. In the context of free and democratic society we have to stay as active teachers of all the possible ethnic culture subjects there. We would like to stress the importance of three main subjects at our schools: a) the history of Lithuania, b) the Lithuanian language culture and c) the subjects of Lithuanian ethnic culture. And we have to be enough clever stressing the importance of all the forms of the sources of our national culture in the family life as well as at all the schools.Our proposition is to have three level steps of the ethnic culture place in the study programs at Lithuanian universities. The first level is the minimal programme of ethnic culture subjects at the non-humanitarian (technical etc.) universities. The second level with the enough important attention for ethnic culture subjects at the humanitarian universities in general. And the third level with the maximal programme of ethnic culture subjects has to be formed at the humanitarian and educological universities with the specialities of teachers of Lithuanian language, literature, history, art, music and other culture forms. And the last remark. We have to be very careful with all the programmes in the ethno-cultural subjects everywhere. Students have to be prepared staying open in the understanding of our ethnic culture importance. Having the forced, not-acceptable and not-understandable for them programmes we all may get the negative results instead of positive ones in general.
