Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje trumpai pristatomi lenkų tarminiai plotai Lietuvoje, apžvelgiama jų sociolingvistinė situacija, apibūdinama jos dinamika. Topografiniai lenkų tarminių arealų pokyčiai siejami su kalbos vartojimo sritimis, jos prestižu ir pačių tarmės vartotojų vertinimu. Aprašant sociolingvistinę situaciją taikytas domenų (vartojimo sričių sugretinimo) metodas, o tautinės savimonės bei tautinis identitetas tirtas kognityviniais metodais. ENThere are three linguistic territories that are traditionally distinguished in Lithuania: Vilnius and Kaunas districts, and the lake region of Ignalina district. The Polish language persists best in the Vilnius that is in two districts nearby Vilnius where the Polish comprise the majority: in Šalčininkai district (79,5 percent) and Vilnius district (61,3 percent). The Polish make up a large national group in Trakai (33,2 percent) and Švenčionys (27,4 percent) districts. There is only 1,6 percent of the Polish living in Kaunas district, and 2,5 percent – in the lake region of Ignalina district. The changes in the topography of Polish dialects in Lithuania depend on a number of factors, and one of the main factors is the language which determines the inclusion of the ethnic rural population of Lithuania; it is the main feature on which Polish national identity has been based. Therefore the subject of this article is the description of the expressions of the inhabitants living in these districts: the expressions that are concerned with the valuation of the dialect, relation to the Polish language, and the linguistic competence problems as they are perceived by the informants.
