ENIt is the first integrated theoretical and methodological research on lobbying in Lithuania. The first step was made, which seeks to fill the gaps of Lithuanian political state, which used to define lobbying as peripheral, "sub-political" and even negative activity, where the last one should not be treated as the sphere of grandpolitique. The definition of lobbying offered in this book does not involve the variety of this phenomenon, which is common to the contemporary lobbying. On the contrary to the above-mentioned political view, this book aims to define the role of contemporary lobbying to the democratic development. Lobbying is a pan of political process, which shows the interdependency of government and citizens in the changing mechanisms of democracy. Lobbying has centenary history and experience, which differs in various countries while being influenced by political, cultural and ideological traditions. Monograph still does not seek to describe the development of lobbying, give the analysis of definitions and connotations. It aims to apply lobbying to contemporary Lithuania in the political integration to the EU and NATO. This book should point the importance of lobbying to the political development of a country and encourage scientific research applied internationally and in Lithuania. It should help to correct disproportion, which formats inadequate understanding of lobbying, gives negative connotations and its everyday condemnation without realizing its democratic nature. One of the main objectives is to help to the start-up and entrenchment of Lithuanian lobbying in the European and global context, giving knowledge and international experience, where the last ones would not only prompt scientific research, but also be important in practice and be embodied in political life.
