ENThe purpose of this paper is to explore and analyse the tradition of spiritual direction, or rather the absence of it, in the context of Lithuanian Baptist churches that are living through a period of post-Communist reality. The first part of the paper deals with the history of spiritual direction in the Christian churches. In the second part, sets out to compare and contrast the discourse, viewing the role and tasks of a pastor and a spiritual director as it has developed in the Lithuanian context. Thirdly, looks at the place of community in spiritual guidance and also engage with some of my personal experience.
