Summary / Abstract:
ENThe article deals with the construction "Subject + be + VINF" defined by de Groot (2000) as the absentive, the grammatical expression of absence. The focus of this article is on the Lithuanian construction "Subject + buv-PST + VINF", which is only used in the past tense. The analyzed data shows which verbs are typical in this Lithuanian construction type and exemplifies characteristic meanings in different contexts.
