ENThe goals of the paper are to present the occurrence of value contradictions in social work and to propose a possible explanation of the fact that there are such contradictions. Value contradictions were revealed during the analysis of research data of social workers’ attitudes toward abortion. A survey method was used to collect data and quantitative analysis techniques were used for data analyses. The survey was conducted in Lithuania and participants were social workers from various fields of social work. The second part of the paper is dedicated to an explanation of value contradictions in social work. The multiple self-theory was used for the construction of explanations. [From the publication]
