ENThis article deals with German language teacher training problems. It discusses three important aspects of teaching students the German language and preparing them for professional activity: the role of the mother tongue, error analysis and the importance of language comparison. It is emphasised that these three aspects deepen the overall understanding of a language and allow understanding contrasts, similarities and structural peculiarities of languages. The article states that in the education of foreign language teachers it is necessary to enable them as language learners to try a variety of methods, so that they can apply them in their profession.
