Summary / Abstract:

ENThe European Council Vienna conference of 1991 set dimensions for environmental education in Europe. The emphasis was laid on schoolchildren learning about multicultural - multilingual European society and preparing for economical and social life in changing Europe. The article deals with three major aspects of educational dimension: subject integration, teachers’ partnership, and the choice of appropriate teaching materials and methods with a particular stress on the significance of contemporary information technologies. Natural sciences are closely related to social sciences. Ecological education is integrated in geography lessons: the relation between nature, society and culture is highlighted, urgent problems and the ways of their resolving are stressed. To increase learning efficiency it is important to use information technologies in the educational process. IT helps developing new learning environment, applying active teaching methods, developing pupils’ individual capabilities, etc. Key words: educational dimension, integration, information technologies.
