ENThe core chemistry group from European Chemistry Thematic Network (ECTN) has provided the project “The Evaluation of Core Chemistry”. The project has produced a series of tests of competence in chemistry (at three levels) in 12 different languages, which is generating enormous interest among chemists in Europe and beyond. We do not have the tests in Lithuanian. The authors of this paper have made some translations into Lithuanian. It contains demonstration tests to evaluate three levels of competence in chemistry. A computer floppy disk is enclosed. The two tests of general chemistry (I and II level) have been analysed. The conclusion was made, that these tests must be adapted to general curriculum and intelligence standards for mainstream education schools in Lithuania. The European differentiation levels do not conform to intelligence standards of different chemistry courses in Lithuania. Some deficiency in original information has been also found; it was incomplete, without graphs, diagrams, or reactions. The positive thing about these tests is that they stimulate thinking.
