ENThis article introduces architecture and music Modernism of Interwar Lithuania, which concentrated in temporary capital Kaunas. The cityscape was experiencing essential changes during those twenty years – it was a place where different generations of Lithuanian architects developed their practical and artistic ideas, which leaned increasingly towards Modernism of Western Europe. It led to creation of so called National style, in which Western trends and Lithuanian ethnical motives co-exist. This process is also evident in musical language of that time. These phenomenons will be examined further through a focused look on Kaunas urban landscape.
