ENThe article purports to underlie a thesis presumably shared by some modem authors - that today's political practice is conceivable and fruitfully examinable in terms of distinction between the so-called "facts" and "values", linked to the dichotomy of "science" and "life", or that of "myth" and "technology". The broad-brush correspondent dichotomy is considered in general as being linked to Lockean and Rousseauist traditions of thought that form the identity of modem man (Taylor), influence the standards of understanding of modern politics, and constitute the criteria for modem political science (Manent, Bloom). This approach provides a useful framework for interpreting the main currents in the post-communist Lithuania's political thought characteristic of the right-wing parties and politicians. The article finally aims at making a conclusion that there are two main currents of thought on Lithuanian political right, both of them based on the inherent archetypes of Lockean and Rousseauist traditions, and that there still remains an unheeded Christian/classical alternative that is today generally neglected.
