ENThe article presents an overview of political developments in Lithuania as of December 2008. It includes information on a minority coalition government led by the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party, and the withdrawal of support for it by the major opposition party, the Homeland Union. In the first half of 2007 the country’s economy was doing well, but the second half of the year was less successful, as inflation increased and the property market declined. Both environment minister Arūnas Kundrotas and education minister Roma Žakaitienė faced no-confidence votes.
