ENThe expression of questions by professional participants of legal discourse is being analysed in the article. There are no researches of law discourse in Lithuanian linguistics, this makes the work new and relevant. The goal of this article is to reveal the peculiarities of questions in the language of law discourse participants - in the language of judges, prosecutors and defenders. The research of expressing questions was conducted by analysing the fragments of ten judicial court trials of Kaunas County Court with recorded interviews of defendants. The methods of this research are descriptive and statistical. The accomplished research has revealed some of the tendencies how the participants of law discourse express questions. The most questions were asked by judges (74 % of all questions). This shows that the situation of communication in the court is asymmetric. It also was ascertained that professional participants of legal discourse often check already known information. The questions without interrogative words dominated in this group. The questions concerning new information constituted another group. The professional participants of legal discourse used it to know about mode, location, purpose and reason of event or action. In a number of cases the questions are asked by providing together several versions of answers. The questions of this type are uncommon in speech of judges, prosecutors and defenders.
