ENIn the paper the author analyses contemporary religious activity and people's attitudes to it, religious space and the process of secularization. The author underlines the significance of religiosity in post socialist time, the changing place of the Church in the public sphere; the paper stresses the capacity of religion to create a new situation in the cultural and social life and new subjects. Religious regulation is related to free community participation in rituals, collective spiritual life. After the restoration of independence the Lithuanian Church became more powerful and open in dissemination of religious ideas, regained its consciousness, its situation became better concerning the material aspect (refunded buildings). Nowadays, the status of the Church is not low, its prestige is growing. Believers, clergy, cardinals and bishops are participating in important social and moral discourses of society alongside with country's politicians and government members. The goal of the paper is to reveal the changing situation of religious life in the country, to show the major authorities and actors in this sphere. The main tasks of the paper are to indicate 1) the relevant aspects of religion in modern times, 2) growing secularization experience of people.
