Summary / Abstract:

ENOne of the most important factors, which influence the process of developing responsibility, is family. Our research has shown that the majority of parents ascribe the development level of their children’s abilities to the 2nd rank (p<0,001). Besides, when comparing teachers’ and parents’ assessments it is evident that teachers employed all the scale of assessment, though the sphere of their assessment is more narrow - it mostly embraces duties and activities related to a pupil’s status. Parents avoid using extreme points, though they treat a child as a whole. The assessment of more impartial teachers is determined by the more profound level of pupils’ recognition, while parents’ answers show their poorer comprehension of the essence of responsibility. They have no clear criteria of assessment of children’s activity from the aspect of responsibility, do not relate it to children’s concrete activity, have difficulties when seeing manifestations of responsibility in everyday life. They have less educational competence. This raises a problem of closer co-operation between the family and school and better psychological-pedagogical education of parents.
