ENAt the end of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th century in the territory of current Panevėžys there were over two hundred homesteads of the estates and folwarks. A lot of small and medium noblemen lived here, in historical lands of Upytė and Liauda. Their estate homesteads and noblemen villages (okolicas) traditionally were composed of wooden buildings, so this wooden architecture had to be very rich. Unfortunately, this architecture almost deteriorated in the 20th century. The article deals with survived architectural objects or those, which are known from the iconography. The aim is to present these objects to the public and to reveal their value. The evolution of the manor house architecture in Panevėžys district depended on development of overall Lithuanian and оf local estate homesteads. Early Lithuanian estate homestead architecture was destroyed during the wars and disturbances at the second part of the 17th - at the beginning of the 18th centuries. However, there are no examples of wooden construction of 18th century in Panevėžys district. These objects have either been substantially redeveloped during the heydays of estates (the 19th - the beginning of the 20th century) or they disappeared later. The wooden landlord houses which remained until nowadays was constructed in the 19th century - in Classicism, Romanticism and Historicism periods.Even seven wooden landlord houses of Panevėžys district can be called the sampler ones: in the publication "Lithuanian History of Architecture" they illustrate the evolution of all Lithuanian architecture. These landlord houses are as follows: the devoured houses in Paežerys, Paliesė, the survived landlord houses in Pamiškė, Linkavičiai, Jutkoniai, Švainininkai. Pamiškė estate homestead is especially valuable example due to the axial symmetry principles application in the small homestead. While continuing research there it would be worth to investigate and evaluate the old buildings or building remains more thoroughly. Under the late and worn out exterior there could be found the valuable old parts of the buildings and precious decoration elements (we can remind the finding of unique old doors in Upytė estate reconstructed in 2000.
