Summary / Abstract:

ENInformation literacy seems to be the most important competence in nowadays Strategic documents of Education in Europe (8 “Key competences”, Official Journal L 394 of 30.12.2006). It empowers students to participate in educational process more as an active participants, constructing knowledge and skills needed for nowadays science and labor market‟s need. Information literacy as an ability to define the need of information, formulate appropriate questions, proceed of information search process and select relevant information very well expressed in Innovative educational strategy – Problem based learning, that motivates students learning through solving of different professional problems in educational practices. That‟s why researches implemented research on Information literacy in problem-based learning of pedagogic professions‟ students. Information literacy is implemented in problem based learning through information search process to find the solution for the particular problem. During information search process students must be capable to define what information and definitions are available in the problem case, formulate the appropriate lists of questions and select the relevant ones to proceed with information search process. Defining of known information in problem case gives to students better insight into nature of required information and helps to formulate more relevant questions for salvation of problems. Outlining of relevant questions gives students opportunity to consider the most important clues in the problem. Selection of right questions and proceeding of information search process enables students to solve problems properly.Researchers emphasize the most common problems experienced by students when implementing information search process: lack of identification of learning object, lack of abilities to formulate appropriative questions for information search, and non-implementation of information search process itself sufficiently.
