Summary / Abstract:

ENThe paper deals with the research results of the student, graduating from Siauliai higher education schools, placement possibilities and adaptation with business sector needs. Having considered that economic development determines the increase of high qualified specialists (with higher education), it can be claimed that the value of education and studies depends not only on education level, but on the students themselves as well as on the working places. There is no doubts that the compatibility of the gained education of the potential employees with the employers‘requirements increases the competitive ability of the labour power, therefore it is relevant for higher education schools to prepare specialists who would meet the employers‘expectations and labour market needs in the particular region. A close business and science cooperation helps place young specialists as well as prepares new study programmes. The research results showed that the students of Siauliai higher education schools and employers in this region positively assess the gained knowledge, skills and professional competences by the graduates. It was noticed that the employers more value general competencies of the prospects, i.e. mastering the personal, social and professional activity forms in various working, social and cultural situations. In order to increase the integration of the young specialists into the labour market meeting the business sector needs, it is necessary to involve the employers into the participation of specialist training and problem solving processes together with the higher education schools.
