Teaching mathematics to social science students applying MAPLE package

LTDarbe aptariama tikimybių teorijos ir matematinės statistikos kurso dėstymo specifika socialinių mokslų specialybių studentams, nes būtent ši matematikos kurso dalis yra jiems labai svarbi. Gan didelis kliuvinys įsisavinant šį kursą yra tai, kad šią studijų kryptį pasirenka mokiniai nepratę ir „nemylintys atlikinėti matematinių pertvarkymų su algebriniais reiškiniais bei skaičiais“. Kompiuterinės algebros paketas MAPLE įgalina greitai ir be klaidų tvarkyti duomenų sistemas, atlikti veiksmus su skaičiais, spręsti lygtis ir lygčių sistemas, atvaizduoti gautus rezultatus grafiškai. Tokiu būdu galima pavyzdžiais aiškintis atskiras sunkiau suprantamas kurso dalis, o tai ir bandoma parodyti šiame darbe.

ENThe paper discusses the teaching specifics in the theory of probability and mathematical statistics course for the social science students. The mathematical part of this course is very important for them [1], but the social science students don’t like to perform mathematical transformations with algebraic expressions and numbers. Our task is to find the usable ways to help them, so the syllabus is taught to facilitate the computer algebra package MAPLE [2]. This package enables fast and error-free processing of data systems to interact with numbers, solving equations and systems of equations and displaying the results graphically. Consequently it is a good possibility to explain the difficult parts of this course easier and more understandable [3 - 6]. The mine goal is to develop much more attractive and easier ways for learning. Some of our solutions are discussed in this article.
