ENIn the present article the metaphorical models which are the most frequent in Lithuanian public space and developed in the health discourse are inventoried as well as the comparison is made how the metaphorical HEALTH model and its coherent metaphorical BODY model are actualized in the health discourse of different periods. The attention is paid to the concepts of ILLNESS and HEALTHCARE SYSTEM. The texts intended for non-professionals are ascribed to health discourse, where it is written not only about the relation between a subject and medicine but also the state which does not require medics assistance. On the basis of the research results, it is possible to state that metaphorical HUMAN model dominates in Lithuanian public health discourse. The metaphorical HEALTH model used in health discourse reveals the negative information related to the concepts described in the texts. The actualization of metaphorical BODY model proves how the structure of corresponding abstract phenomena is perceived in Lithuanian world view.
