ENThe present article provides the analysis of subordinate conjunctions used in 19th century texts written in Eastern Aukštaitian dialect. Examples are gathered from several 19th century texts: Šventas Izidorius artojas (1859) by Kazimieras Michnevičius-Mikėnas; Hymny ojcow swietych (1848) by Antanas Kitkevičius; Litanijos su maldomis (1842) by Andrius Benediktas Klungys; Giesmė apie keturiolika stacijų (1810) by Laurynas Bortkevičius; Senas katekizmas (1803) by Mykolas Cerauskas; Uvogos apie išganimą dūšios (1823) by Mykolas Smolskis. The following temporal (kuomet, kolei, kai, tik, tiktai, pakol), causal (nes, nesang, ba, kadangi), concession (nors, norint, noris), conditional (jei, jeigu, bile), purpose (idant, kad), comparative (kaip, kaipo, neg) and non-semantic (kad, jog) conjunctions were recorded. It was noted that comparative conjunction kaip can be used instead of kai and conjunctive pronouns koks, kokia and conjunction kad n instead of conjunctive word kada and conjunction kai. Non-semantic conjunctions kad, jog can connect not only subordinate clauses of subject, object or adverbial modifier of manner but also subordinate clauses of adverbial modifier of cause and condition.
