Summary / Abstract:

ENDuring research on information omitted in monastery chronicles traces have oft en been found of that information or even its presence in another texts of the group. The least present topic is life inside the monastery, interpersonal relationships, monks’ daily life. Only the annals Dzieje kapitularne zakonnic świętej matki Brygitty konwentu grodzieńskiego, including sermons by the abbess Teresa Chreptowiczówna, present details about the diffi culties in the relationships between the sisters and describe the reality of reforming the community by the abbess. Although the monastery chronicles mention the town and events that take place there quite oft en, there is scarcely any information about the city government and functioning of the monasteries inside the town. Th e texts also hardly ever include personal opinions of the authors about the events described, as the genre of chronicle requires. Th e study confi rms the objectives and priorities of the authors, who were appointed by a religious community and acted on its behalf.
