ENMuoriškiai barrow - is an important Early Iron Age burial site in the north-east Lithuania. Research results were presented and published in various authors’ articles which investigated Early Iron Age period, examining history and dynamics of Selonia. Groups of distinct findings were presented in terms of their prevalence, chronology and typology in the context of other findings which belong to the same period. However, comprehensive research study was not conducted. The study aims to reveal barrow’s formation and dynamics, highlighting funerary features and characteristics. Morphological examination of all the exhibits revealed barrow’s dynamic characteristics. The study provides evidences that the earliest barrows were constructed in the second half of the second century - first half of the third century. These barrows (II, III and IV) are the earliest and they all were built at the same time. The significance of the barrow IV ought to be mentioned: male and what is presumed to be a female were buried in this barrow, 7 (8?) human remains in the same barrow’s foundation were excavated together with many spearheads in comparison to other barrows. It is possible to assume that in the barrow are buried the members of same community (settlement), presumably killed during the military conflict. This hypothesis is partially confirmed by the grave’s military related findings and the fact that all graves were formed at the same time. However, without anthropological studies this hypothesis cannot be fully proven. [...].
