ENThe aim of this article is to make an overview of the changes of migration processes in Lithuania during the period from 2004 to 2013, with particular attention paid to immigration by third country nationals for reasons of family reunification. The article examines annual Migration Yearbooks published in from 2005 to 2013; additional statistical data from 2011 and 2012 provided by the Migration Department under the Lithuanian Ministry of the Interior; and the most current information concerning international migration from and to the country available on the official statistics portal run by Statistics Lithuania. An overview of the changes of migration processes during the chosen period is made by studying the context of Lithuanian citizens’ and foreigners’ emigration and tendencies of immigration to Lithuania. Particular attention is paid to the data of immigration of third country nationals and the purposes of their arrival in Lithuania. Mostly third country nationals move to the country for family reasons, thus a more comprehensive analysis of immigration on grounds of family reunification is presented in the article. In general, statistical data from the period under investigation shows that during the past year emigration is decreasing, while the number of persons who immigrate to the country is increasing. However, it seems a credible assumption that behind these statistics there lie more complex phenomena of migration which therefore require more comprehensive studies in the future.
