ENThe essay analyses the reasons why some Lithuanian intellectuals of the 21st century are changing the meaning of a national patriot. According to the author, this issue is due to different historical interpretations of Lithuanian statehood and its national identity. Intellectuals, who are in favor of cultural and political heritage of Prussian- Baltic Minor Lithuania, provide a different and competitive discourse to those intellectuals, who are in favor of Lithuanian identity based on cultural and political heritage of Slavic-polonized Lithuanian Grand Duchy. The concept of a true patriot is being revised according to the preferences to one of these discourses.
