ENBasing herself on the archival and investigation material the author describes the development of the Carmelite church and monastery ensemble in Pumpėnai. The first data concerning the church are from the 17th century. The remaining up till now buildings are the examples of the architecture of end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. This architectural monument of the late baroque with the elements of classicism consists of the Church of Virgin Mary of the Scapular, the church tower and the ensemble of the buildings of the Carmelite monastery of the old statute.
