ENThe aim of the article is to show the way the Lithuanian course books to the modern history present Poland and Poles of the interwar period. Bearing in mind that representatives of this nation are distinctly present in the Lithuanian history, the article mentions not only the differences between the way the problem is tackled by the Polish and Lithuanian historiography, but also - between the very Lithuanian authors. The primary part of the text is devoted to detailed illustrations of the main problem. Being fully aware of these differences, the author of the article underlines that they may be overcome, since, at a long run, it is the teachers stance that matters; they are not obliged to agree with the author of the course book anyway.
