Summary / Abstract:

ENTeachers’ attitude towards learning in the museum environment and analysis of the development of students creativity are presented in the paper. The goal of education programmes run by museums is to educate visitors, expand their knowledge, evoke emotions, promote interest, foster creativity, shape values and attitudes. The museum provides a great environment for learning and extra-curricular activities. The aim of the paper was to investigate teachers’ attitude towards the development of students creativity in the museum environment. 50 primary school teachers from Šiauliai city and district took part in the survey. Their teaching experience ranged from 21 to 30 years. The survey showed that the majority of the respondents took part in education programmes run by museums. They saw such tangible benefits: students acquired new knowledge, they carried out research, easier understood learning material, performed creative tasks. The surveyed positively evaluated original creative tasks. They were of an opinion that education programmes run by the museum should complement school curriculum, be useful for students, foster creativity, creative tasks should be attractive, new information should help students understand learning material easier, think independently and logically.
