Summary / Abstract:

ENThis article analyzes several aspects of adults’ non-formal art education and the educator’s roles in this space. The empirical research reveals students’ attitudes and expectations related to the teacher’s personal characteristics, its functions and roles. The research problem includes such research questions: which educator’s personal and pedagogical characteristics and skills are significant in the process of adults’ non-formal art education? What are teacher’s roles in the non-formal art education activities? Is non-formal education a special place for teacher’s and adult learners’ pedagogical interaction? The aim of the research: to reveal what expectations adult learners have in nonformal art education concerning their teachers. Methods of the research: the research was carried out analysing theoretical sources and employing qualitative research methods. The questionnaire (using open-ended questions) was designed for this research and presented to the participants of non-formal art (music and fine arts) activities. Participants of non-formal art activities (26 informants) who participated in this research provided their opinions in the process of gaining information. This research is a part of the research – "Children, Youth and Adult Non-Formal Education: Art Activities" (the priority long-term science program in Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences) and it was carried out in 2016.
