ENFor Eustachijus Tiškevičius, Lithuanian ethnography was not an isolated area of study. The scope of his research included everything that appeared essential to him in local regional study monographs and historical development research. His monograph on the Borisova region and the historic outline of the Biržai castle say much about his character, motivations and interests in Lithuanian ethnography; similarly, the composition of the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities ethnographic collection bears his mark. Even though Tiškevičius’s research in the field of Lithuanian ethnography was limited, and the number of Lithuanian ethnographic exhibits in the Vilnius Museum of Antiquities is sparse, he held distinctly positive opinions on materials related to Lithuanian lifestyle and contributed to ethnographic scholarship as well as encouraged a certain idealism when examining Lithuanian folk lifestyle and culture.
