ENThis chapter has set the context for how the ministry of education in Lithuania approached policy change to the leadership of their schools. The aim of the Time for Leaders project and subsequent policy was to recapture the enthusiasm of teachers and school leaders that had been in evidence immediately after the country regained independence in 1990. The Time for Leaders project is a framework of practice intended to develop new models of schools and governance, leadership competencies and form a support infrastructure for educational leadership. The findings of the Time for Leaders project will, through systemic change, empower the Lithuanian education community and every country across Europe to develop and improve schools; Lithuania, as the leading country across Europe on school leadership, should ensure there is a raised awareness across member states. The following chapter describes the detail of the project and its impact.
