Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjama sąvokos „profesija“ turinio pokyčiai XIX a. Daroma prielaida, kad būtent šiuo laikotarpiu sąvoka „profesija“ įgijo naujų reikšmių, kurių atsiradimą skatino tradicinės socialinės struktūros irimas ir individo naujų socialinės reprezentacijos formų paieška. Tyrimo metodologinį pagrindą sudaro skirtingos „sąvokų istorijos“ prieigos {Bylefeldo ir Kembridžo mokyklos). Tyrime remiamasi XIX a. pabaigos lietuvių ir lenkų periodinės spaudos analize. XX a. pradžioje pradėjo ryškėti sąvokos „profesija“ reikšmių kaita. XIX a. pabaigos sąvoka „profesija“ taikyta asmenims, kurie turėjo aukštąjį ir vidurinį specialųjį išsilavinimą bei dirbo intelektualinį darbą. 399. ENThis article deals with the changing concept of “profession” in the 19 th century. It is assumed that during this period the term “profession” acquired new meanings, a process triggered by the breakdown of traditional social structures and the individual’s search for new forms of social representation. The methodological basis consists of different approaches to the history of concepts (the Bielefeld and Cambridge schools). The study is based on analysis of Lithuanian and Polish periodicals at the end of the 19th century. In the beginning of the 20th century, a change in the meaning of the concept of “profession” emerged. At the end of the 19th century, the term “profession” applied to people who had higher and secondary specialized education and worked in intellectual positions. After 1905 special education became available to different social groups, the opportunity to form trade unions and associations emerged, and the press expanded; simultaneously, the initial definition of “profession” began to change. This concept eventually introduced not only a group of persons who had higher education diplomas, but also people who previously were called craftsmen. Meanwhile, in Lithuanian and Polish periodicals, instead of the term “free professions” the terms “intelligentsia professions,” “liberal professions,” and “high professions” began to be used more often. These descriptors showed a change in the status of these professions and marked the formation of the intelligentsia as a social group, revealing its professional background and composition.
