ENIn this article, I present a pattern of an old Polish academic religious discussion by giving an example of two discussions that took place in Navahradak and Vilnius. They both refer to religious theses important to Christians. They both were held in accordance with rules for discussions accepted both in the XVI century and later periods. The analysed discussions are known only from summaries containing both debaters’ statements and a course of the whole discussion. The summary of the Navahradak discussion contains one more element, i.e. a polemic of an editor of the summary with theses of Polish Brethrens who participated in that discussion. Argumentation related both to theological and philological methods remains an interesting element of those polemics.
