Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjama žemės nuosavybės raida Lietuvos Didžiojoje Kunigaikštystėje XIII–XVIII a. ENThe paper deals with the development of land ownership in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in the 13th-18th- cc. The study discusses the formation of Lithuanian individual land ownership, allodium and its two subtypes – the great one (of the nobility) and the small one (of free commoners), before the Christianisation. Within a broad context of feudalisation of Lithuanian society, the paper reveals how, upon Lithuania's Christianisation in 1387, allodium became a nobleman’s inherited patrimony and how integration of the nobility in 1566 saw the introduction of a rule for the free disposal of all property. The author talks about the loss of the peasants’ land ownership rights, the restrictions of the women’s rights to real property disposal, the peculiarities of land ownership by the Church and monasteries, the rights of property disposal by cities with Magdeburg rights, and the aspects of real estate ownership by Jews and Tartars.
