ENThe article is dedicated to professor Jonas Laužikas in commemoration of his 100th birth anniversary. The main autobiographical facts introduce J. Laužikas’ family and its traditions; years of studies, scientific activity; the roots of his physical and spiritual strength. There are also given his colleagues’, his students’ and acquaintances’ memories. They are very meaningful revealing a very bright, noble and generous personality. The article also discusses very versatile and profound scientific activity of J. Laužikas, its main directions (educational development, pedagogical theory, pedagogical - psychological ideas associated with individual's investigation and complete study, developing pupils’ will - power, teacher's and researcher's personality, enhancement of educational process.
